Membership is £15 a year. It runs for twelve months from the day you join, wherever in the world you live, and you can cancel at any time.
What you get
- Full access to the research archive, including complete transcribed entries rather than just the free index
- The journal, four issues a year, posted to your door, plus the full back catalogue
- Free entry to every monthly talk
- A listing in the surname exchange, so other members researching your families can find you
- Two free volunteer lookups a year in the physical archive
How to join
Fill in the membership form and pay by card, standing order or cheque. You will get an email confirmation the same day and your first journal at the next quarterly posting.
If you would rather join in person, come to any monthly talk and speak to whoever is on the desk. They will have forms.
Where the money goes
Membership is our only regular income. It pays for record office visits, scanning equipment, printing and posting the journal, and the hire of the hall. Nobody in the society is paid.
Overseas members
About a third of our members live outside the U.K., mostly in Australia, Canada and the United States. The rate is the same £15 and includes airmail postage for the journal. Everything except the monthly talks works perfectly well at a distance.
Already a member?
You can renew your membership at any point in the year, or give a year to somebody else.
