Contact us

Everybody who answers enquiries here is a volunteer doing it around a job or a retirement, so please allow a few days for a reply. We do read everything.

General enquiries

Questions about membership, the journal, talks or anything to do with running the society go to the secretary through the contact form.

Research enquiries

Before you write, it is worth a free search of the name index, which will tell you in a few seconds whether we hold anything for a family. If you are a member and want the physical archive checked, use the lookup request rather than the general form, as it goes straight to the volunteers who can do it.

We cannot research a family tree for you. What we can do is tell you what we hold, check a specific entry, and point you at the right record set.

Found a broken link or a mistake?

Please tell us. Transcription errors matter and we would rather know. If you can quote the entry and say what the original actually reads, a volunteer will check it against the source and correct it.

Where we meet

Marlcombe Church Hall, on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. There is parking behind the church and the hall is step free. Guests are welcome and do not need to tell us in advance, although it is helpful for the November workshop.

By post

If you would rather write, the secretary’s address is printed inside the front cover of every journal. We check the post weekly rather than daily.

Press and other societies

We are happy to hear from other family history societies about exchanging journals or coordinating transcription so that we are not duplicating each other’s work. Use the general form and it will be passed on.
